Scale Calibration and Maintenance

Until an unfortunate incident, I never really appreciated just how important calibration and maintenance of the scales in my shop is. You see, a woman entered the shop and picked up some loose fruit. However, when she tried to weigh the product, the scales gave a very price and she was very upset. In an effort to solve this problem, I decided to call in a professional contractor who serviced and recalibrated the scales. Since this time, I haven't had any problems. The contractor also gave me lots of useful tips about how I could avoid similar problems in the future.

Best Tips for Maintaining Your POS Register Touch Screen

Accurate accounting and money flow records are a necessity for any business.  It doesn't matter if you have been running the business for years, weeks or days. You need to account for all the monetary resources that come into and leave the business in the course of operation. Specifically, you must pay extra attention to the sales you make. They show the gradual progress made by your business as time goes on. Point of sale (POS) systems are the go-to option for anyone that's looking to keep track of their sales records. Modern POS systems come with touch screen features to enhance speed, efficiency and device compatibility. Do you intend to buy a state-of-the-art POS system for your startup? Here are some maintenance tips that will help:

Always Turn Off When Cleaning

Modern POS systems come with a special cleaning mode. You can liken these modes to regular computer modes where you can put the machine to sleep or hibernate when not in use. Sadly, the cleaning mode doesn't seem to favour touch screens. It is advisable to shut down the machine before you start cleaning the touch screen.

Ideally, POS touch screens generate a small amount of electric charge when they are in use. When you are cleaning, switching the screen off reduces the chances of damage by the residual charge. Moreover, the screen is the only component that still receives power even when the device is in cleaning mode. This means that it is at risk of damage, especially if you are using a moist piece of cloth for cleaning.

Always Dust with a Dry Cloth First

Always start the cleaning by dusting the touch screen with a piece of clean, dry cloth. Microfibre cloths do a great job. They are soft and gentle on your screen. They don't leave any lint behind either. Refrain from using paper towels because they leave lots of lint on the screen and interfere with its clarity. Moreover, paper towels have an abrasive texture bound to leave marks on the screen after some time.

Dampen the Cloth for Good Results

It's normal for touchscreen devices to get overly dirty and messy. People touch them with all manner of grime on their hands. Dampening the microfibre cloth used to clean the screen will improve your results significantly. You can use clean, distilled water to do this. Touchscreen cleaning kits with special solutions are also available in electronics stores near you. Avoid window cleaning solutions or regular cleaning chemicals.
